Skytrain of Düsseldorf airport
There are several hanging train or suspension train systems in Germany, the most famous of which is the Wuppertaler
Schwebebahn. But this picture is the Sky Train of Düsseldorf airport. It's a suspension train system with a 2,5 km long
route linking Düsseldorf Airport's terminals to a large car park and to the train DB station. It's fully automatic system.
The coaches hang about 10m high in the air and a train runs every 5 to 7 minutes. Here we see two of the Sky Train's
coaches just leaving the railway station suspension rail station. These two coaches were covered fully by advertisement
stickers but most of the wagons are not. It is typical that two coaches are used together as a train.

Wuppertaler Schwebebahn
The Wuppertaler Schwebebahn or suspension monorail train of Wuppertal is a world renowned tourist attraction, but also a daily
means of transport for the inhabitants of Wuppertal. The suspension train runs on a line of 13 kilometres, almost entirely over
the river Wupper. There are 20 suspension railway stations ranging from Vohwinkel to the Wuppertal Oberbarmen station.
This suspension railcar seen here approaching the station of the main train station of Wuppertal, Wuppertal Hauptbahnhof, is of
the type GTW 72 dating back to the year 1972. All of these suspension railcars were retired from service in 2019 and now there are
only left the newer "generation 15" railcars. Picture from Wuppertal Hauptbahnhof 10.6.2017 by Ilkka Siissalo.
